Running This Town

I am not a nutrition expert — just a girl trying to get by on long runs.
On Saturday I ran a little over 10 miles in preparation for the 13.1 miles I’ll be running for the half marathon in … one month! What to eat beforehand?
I ate one piece of french toast on hearty bread — multigrain with nuts and oats in it that you can actually see. Dipped the bread into ONE scrambled egg and poured the rest of the egg on top while it was cooking on the skillet. Topped it with maple syrup. Had some tea and a big glass of water, waited about 45 minutes for it to digest, then went on my run. Had NO PROBLEMS with energy and felt like I could have gone longer. Wasn’t starving when I got home, either.
Also … though this is TMI? I ALWAYS take an imodium before I run if it’s going to be more than about 6 miles. Especially if I eat or drink tea the morning of. I cannot recommend this enough, and I was too embarrassed to ask people about it myself until I talked to some other runner friends who gave me the heads up.
