Swimming This Town

So you may have noticed that this Tumblr has been pretty quiet as of late. I can’t speak for anyone else, but the reason I haven’t been writing on it is because a couple months ago I found out I had a stress fracture in my right leg and I have been forbidden to run—or bike or basically do anything that could potentially strain the leg—since the end of September.

It’s been a major, major bummer. I’ve started physical therapy and the hope is that I’ll be able to start running again—slowly, and probably more of a jog-walk—in a couple weeks or so. In the meantime I’ve been cleared for the stationary bike, which, yawn, but I’m hoping that I’ll get the go-ahead for the regular bike soon.

The only silver lining to all this is that I’ve rediscovered swimming and I’ve been going 4 to 5 times a week. I swam competitively from the age of 8 to 18 but have barely swam (swum?) since then. I found a website called Swimplan that designed a workout for me that I’ve been doing, with a few modifications for time/how tired I am, for the last week or so. I need close to an hour to do the whole workout so I don’t always have time to finish, and my events were the 100 fly and the 200 IM in high school, so if you don’t like doing all the strokes you might not like it, but here it is anyway:

WARMUP
200 free easy (0:10 rest), 100 breast easy (0:10 rest), 200 free easy (0:15 sec rest)
